Brownsburg, IN (July 2, 2018) – With the Road America weekend in the rearview mirror, Belardi Auto Racing is now headed to the 7/8-mile oval at Iowa Speedway, properly known as the “Fastest Short Track on the Planet”.
After an impressive showing on the first oval of the year at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Santiago Urrutia is ready to get this weekend underway and run wheel to wheel through the 14 degree banked turns.
Iowa is a very fun and fast track, and a place I feel comfortable at. Last year I came so close to winning, so this year all I am focused on is a win. I know the Belardi Auto Racing boys will give me a strong car, and I’m excited to be on an oval again and really show what we are capable of!” – Santiago Urrutia
Maintaining his 3rd place position in the championship, 44 points out of 1st place, Santiago is really looking to use his experience and confidence to push to the front this weekend. The goal is to build off of the 2nd place finish Urrutia was able to score last year and improve 1 position and stand on the top step of the podium.
Aaron Telitz is coming into the weekend with a lot of confidence coming fresh off of his 3rd place finish in race No. 2 at Road America. Also a veteran of the tricky oval, Telitz feels the insights he gained in the race last year will help give him an advantage and a solid base from which to start.
“I’m really looking forward to continuing to build momentum this weekend at Iowa. Coming off of a podium at my home race I’m feeling good and need to keep focusing on my performance and the wins will come! I know all the Belardi Auto Racing guys are ready for a busy month of July with 3 race weekends. We’re ready to get after it!” – Aaron Telitz
Consistently moving up positions in the Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires championship, Telitz finds himself in the 5th position 85 points out of 1st place. As Aaron has stated all year long his goal is to just go out and win races and let the points take care of themselves, and that is exactly the goal this weekend at Iowa Speedway.
Practice kicks off the weekend for the Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires Championship on Saturday July 7th starting at 1:30 P.M. Following the 45 minute practice session is qualifying at 5:00 P.M., with 100 of racing set to kick off at 11:15 A.M. on Sunday July 8th.
