Speedway, IN (May 23, 2018) – After an eventful weekend on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway road course, the Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires championship is back in action this coming Friday. This however is not just another race on the calendar, this is the biggest race of the year. The one every driver in the paddock wants to win, and the Belardi drivers of Aaron Telitz and Santiago Urrutia feel very confident they have the car underneath them to wind up in victory lane.
Santiago Urrutia showed pace all weekend on the road course, scoring a 2nd place finish in race 1 and battling for the win all race long in race number 2. A veteran to the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, Urrutia is looking to take advantage of his knowledge of the big oval and use it Friday during the Freedom 100.
“It’s great to be back at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, I’ve stayed in Indy all month and really feel at home here! I feel like me and my engineer, Tim Neff, are really clicking and I’m excited to see the pace we have starting on Thursday with practice and qualifying.
With a 5th place finish during last year’s Freedom 100 Santiago is planning to take the patience he has had all year long in this 2018 season and go for the front.
Aaron Telitz is coming off of a string of podium finishes that saw him improving one spot in each of the finishes. With a 4th place at Barber, a 3rd during race 1 at Indy and a 2nd in race 2, the young man from Wisconsin is hoping that this pattern continues and he can stand atop the podium in the Freedom 100.
“I feel great heading into the Freedom 100 this coming weekend! I know our Belardi Auto Racing guys are going to give me a rocket on Friday and I’ll be sending it to the front!”
With a tough start to his 2018 campaign, Telitz is hoping that he can firmly cement his run to the championship in Indianapolis.
The Freedom 100 takes place on Friday May 25th on the Indianapolis Motor Speedway oval. As always, you can follow the action using the Road to Indy TV app or by tuning in to NBCSN at 12:10 ET for live coverage of the 16th Freedom 100!
