Brownsburg, IN (June 19, 2018) – After a substantial amount of time off following round 7 of the 2018 Indy Lights Presented by Cooper Tires championship, the Belardi Auto Racing team is excited to get back into the thick of things this time on the twists and turns of the Road America course.
The month of May was filled with a lot of turning left, so the team has to switch gears and get the road course hat back on and with a successful test ahead of rounds 8 and 9 both Santiago Urrutia and Aaron Telitz feel they have a setup that will propel them to the front of the field.
After qualifying 5th for the Freedom 100 and battling his way to the front, Santiago was able to gain valuable points towards the ultimate goal, a championship. Coming into the weekend at Road America, Santiago sits 3rd in the points only 21 points behind championship leader Colton Herta.
Santiago has experience on this track and has also scored a 1st and 2nd place finish. A good result would go a long way in terms of points for Santiago in the championship battle, and after finding a balance during the test he likes, and previous success in Elkhart Lake, Santiago is ready to get after it this weekend.
“After the test session here at Road America, and working hard with the engineers and Aaron, I really feel like we have a setup that is capable of winning this weekend. I am only 21 points out of 1st place in the championship, so I need to win in order to gain points and pass the competition, and this weekend will be no exception. We are coming to Road America to win.”
The weekend at Road America is always circled on Aaron Telitz calendar, because he gets to return to his home state and race in front of his friends and family. Aaron is also excited for this coming weekend after the test session, he really feels like his Belardi Auto Racing crew have the setup figured out that will allow him to win on the biggest stage in the Mazda Road to Indy in front of his hometown crowd.
“Road America is my favorite race of the year. You can’t beat the home race atmosphere it brings. The fans, track, and area are what makes it an amazing weekend. I know our Belardi Auto Racing guys are ready for the challenge. I’ll be looking to bring home a couple of wins for my home state!”
